No Sting Here!

There are a lot of great churches in the area where we live and every once in a while we get to visit one of these churches where the people are very encouraging. They show the love of God, they love the Word and how it transforms lives and they love the gospel.

Yesterday I had the honor and privilege of speaking and filling in for my brother Michael Smith (who is senior pastor at Victory Church of the MidSouth) after the loss of his dear Aunt Lucille (a pillar of faith I might add) late last week.

This wasn’t the first time we’ve visited there and I had forgotten just how encouraging and supporting this body of Christ is in our community. I remember earlier this year in March, Pastor Michael and worship leader Greg Lackey invited us to host C3Live (Christian Community Café).

Turned out on that spring night, Victory church showed up big time in support of this community outreach for Christ! We were so thankful to them for their support!

What an awesome group of Christ followers that are assembled at Victory. It’s obvious that God has big plans for this church in the future. God has put a big dream in Michael’s heart and they have put together a leadership team and congregation that will support that dream until the end. God dreams in souls and it is encouraging to see a life-giving church that’s going for it.

It reminds me of what the apostle Paul wrote to the Church in Corinth: “When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." (1 Cor. 15:54) Thanks Victory Church, thanks Pastor Mike and thanks be to God for using this church to make an impact in the community!
