Highlights :: Catalyst '09

In case you didn't get a chance to attend this year, I've taken my favorite "nuggets" of wisdom from a portion of the lineup of inspiring leaders who presented at Catalyst '09. Make a mark on the world for Jesus Christ!

Andy Stanley
  • What man is a man that doesn't leave the world better?
  • God is not “invited” to play a role in our story; we’ve been privileged to play a role in His.
  • Living life to make "my" mark is too small a thing for us to give our whole life to
Rob Bell
  • Faith and doubt dance together
  • Less is more; inverse fidelity
  • The 10 Commandments: First 9 are externally measurable/observable; obeying the 10th is a "reward" for obeying the first 9. When you obey the first 9, you won't want what somebody else has
Matt Chandler
  • EVERYTHING God creates rolls up into worship
  • What God has said He was going to do is HAPPENING NOW. We're caught up in something bigger than we can even imagine
  • Let confession and repentance be a continuing ethic for us
Frances Chan
  • WE WERE DEAD. But Jesus saved us. Ephesians 2. When was the last time you thought "I should be in hell right now?"
  • We are arrogant to think that we alone can change the world. Only God can do that.
  • Who cares if people won't restore you? The God of all grace will.
Chuck Swindoll
  • Brokenness and failure are necessary
  • We must be willing to leave the familiar methods without disturbing the biblical message
  • Drip with gratitude and grace
Louie Giglio
  • As my life becomes about Jesus, it becomes all that life is meant to be about
  • The time is NOW for us to process, to live out, to move out, to do something, to take action
  • "Your life is shaped by the end you live for. You are made in the image of what you desire." - Thomas Merton
Which one of these speaks to you today? On your mark, get set, GO!
