But is a Bad Word

Not “your butt looks mighty cute in those tight jeans” kinda butt.

But a but when it comes to lack of trust.

“When it comes to trusting God, putting our absolute faith in His ability to see anything through, we have to be sure we don’t hesitate to believe His promises.”

Take the Israelites (Old Testament people God chose to fulfill His promises) for example.

  • They were ready to go into the promised land (a plush crib-land), flowing with milk and honey (pimped out).
  • They had just made a major move out of Egypt (left the hood), across the desert and were on the edge of entering the land that God had promised to give them.
  • Problem was, this place was already lived in by some big dudes that weren’t ready to move out if you know what I mean.
  • So they sent some look-outs (spies) in to check things out and some of them got scared. In fact, so scared that they began to doubt the promises of God. Even though He had guaranteed their victory.

Check this out from Numbers 13:27-28 (& watch for the but):

“They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. BUT the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large.”

This is what happens when we look upon ourselves as the means to the end of our problems. When we don’t trust in, don’t stand on what God has clearly promised us that He’d do.

Don’t make the same mistake the Israelites did and die in the badlands. Trust God today to be your strength! When have you trusted God and seen victory in your life?
